Today

July 15, 2010

Tried to get things accomplished but was moving very, very slowly. Had good intentions of making jewelry but was instead the queen of procrastination. Here's what I did instead: Baked a loaf of yummy gluten free bread with berries. Made a fritatta with spinach, mushrooms and zucchini (inspired by one that I had while visiting Ashland). Went on a solo thrifting adventure and made some great scores! Picked up two adorable vintage silk button down shirts, an amazing printed 70's sweater and a vintage navy St. Johns cardigan with sparkly buttons.

Custom

July 13, 2010

Paper Treasure welcomes custom orders. I love transforming your family jewelry into something new. Here's a piece from a series I made for a client using bits and pieces that belonged to her Grandfather.

Joseph Cornell

July 13, 2010

Joseph Cornell has been an inspiration to so many artists across a variety of mediums. He lived a borderline reclusive lifestyle but also managed to connect himself with all the major art movements of his time. He was obsessed with ballerinas of bygone eras and made many of his pieces as tributes to them. I especially love the playful nature of his work where many of his pieces were intended to be interactive. His biography, Utopia Parkway is definitely worth checking out.

Treasure Hunting

July 10, 2010

Excited to be going treasure-hunting this weekend for jewelry bits and baubles! Here's a favorite photo of my mom when she was around my age. My dad shot this from far away with a telephoto lens as they were shopping around the Brimfield antique market in Massachusetts. My parents are big antique collectors and got me into treasure hunting at an early age. They are both also very crafty and taught me the art of transforming something discarded into something new.
