My friend Laura took me to her hometown, Ashland for a few days. It was so beautiful there and so relaxing. We went swimming in a river (it was so cold it took my breath away!), sunbathed (burned!), saw some wildlife (tons of deer and a snake!), celebrated Laura's birthday and went to so many bbq's that I lost count.
I recently finished Patti Smith's new memoir, Just Kids and highly recommend it. I've been a fan of Patti's work for a while now but this book sealed the deal. It's a great read about Patti's early days in New York and her relationship with photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe. It's a portrait about her her struggles as an artist, a beautiful, unconventional love and New York in it's heyday.
Even though I could only dream of one day owning pieces of the Lyell collection, I was sad to hear that they’re closing their doors. Lyell’s clothing and artful styling have been such an inspiration. Goodnight Lyell! http://www.lyellnyc.com
I stumbled up Ellen Roger’s haunting photographs on flickr a while back and have been smitten ever since. I love that Ellen creates her images by hand using old-fashioned techniques. I used to spend a lot of time in the darkroom and was drawn to the older processes like hand-applying emulsions, hand-tinting and experimenting with soft-focus old cameras. Ellen’s work is devastatingly beautiful and a true inspiration.

This New York shop is filled with the antique jewelry of my dreams. Erie Basin's blog is a great source of inspiration to me and offers a glimpse at the gorgeous collection of jewels on display there. Victorian jewelry makes me especially weak in the knees, the more sentimental the better. Here are a couple of my favorites: Victorian friendship bands and Victorian Relic Lockets that look like little scrapbook collages. (Sigh). http://www.eriebasin.tumblr.com
I can’t even express how excited I am about this re-launch! It’s a new chapter for Paper Treasure! (Thank you Bryan for doing such an amazing job!) I will no longer be posting on my old blog so stay tuned right here, I’ve got lots to share with you!
